Hi
I bought a second hand Blue with a plug and play wiring harness. Plugged it in, and using a Griff cable and the software zero'd everything - the car will start - but idle is really rough, and it won't rev over about 1500rpm, it stutters and doesn't seem to fire. I'm not getting any error codes - and the AAV dials on the front are all on about 0 according to the software. I have larger injectors - 440cc vs 380cc - which I have told the software about. I've never done any tuning before - but I thought that at least the car would run normally with all the maps set to 0. Engine is a toyota 1jz-gte - stock apart from the bigger injectors. What can I do next? Thanks |

Did you check the rotary dial's and jumper pins to see if they are set correctly?
The jumper's are inside the EMB unit. I do believe we have the greddy manual in the download section. |

Yes - just double checked - all the jumpers and dials are set according to the manual.
Anything else to try? |

If the airflow meter is hooked up to the emanage, disconnect it and see if the car revs fine, if it does the emanage is faulty.

My understanding is that the 1JZ runs a MAP sensor, not a air flow meter.
But - still learning at this so I could be wrong. |

Yes it runs on a map sensor. No maf here. I would check your wiring and check codes anyways. There still might be codes on the ecu even if its not lighting up. Should take 2 seconds to check

First we need to determine if you just dont have an issue with a mechanical part on the car. Disconnect the EMB and start the car.
1. If it does not idle right then you need to check the Idle Air control Valve, and or the Fast Idle Thermovalve. 2. If it runs then there is a problem between the emanage and the car outbound since its receiving good signals from the sensors in the car most likely. Check your map sensor wiring and be sure you have calibrated the TPS signal. 1. with the ign on open the TPS CALIBRATION setting and select calibrate. Push the throttle to 100% and release when the program says to do so. Restart the car again and see if it idles correctly. 1. If it does then the calibration of your TPS was off. 2. If it does not then we should inspect your injector wiring for a bad ground. (check all the grounds and make sure they are grounded to the ECU ground. This'll ensure you have a rock solid ground). Check the car again 1. If does not idle right then open your support tools and read the live data and see which signal is fluctuating in conjunction with the stuttering. That will say which signal is having an issue and we'll go from there. let me know how it goes, and welcome to the site! |

I had the same problem with my 1jz in my SC300. Bypassed the car ran fine, but when I plugged in the emanage, it stumbled and died, like the map wasn't connected.
Turns out all I needed to do was to update the software on the EMB and the car perfectly. |
