Okay guys, this is for my Toyota Tercel.

I started wiring today. Apparently the Blue's manual--Starlet 4efte engine's wiring diagram--doesn't make any reference to wiring up the emanage to any of the ECU's Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) pinouts.

I was told that it was because there is only "open" and "close", so I take this to mean there is no signal from the TPS to the ECU with a varying voltage that can be utilized by the Blue.

However, I was thinking when adjusting the TPS you have to measure voltage to correctly set the TPS so I was wondering why wouldn't my car have a voltage varying wire to the ecu from the TPS. There are at least two potentially useful TPS wires at the ECU(see pic below). Pin 17 is VTA(throttle angle) and Pin 19 is IDL (idle). Pin 18, I believe, is the third TPS pinout at the ECU and is simply the VCC(voltage supply)--which I think was mislabled.

And here is the wiring diagram from my cars manual that I cropped out and edited only the TPS portion of the diagram.

So pin 19(IDL) does look to just be and open/close type signal.

However, what is pin 17(VTA) deal? I am thinking this is variable voltage, but whether or not it will be useful for the Blue I'm not sure.

Might as well throw this in too. So this is the Greddy Blue's diagram for my car. The two are the possible TPS wires, but Greddy did not utilize them.

And here is another pinout diagram for my ECU but this one is reversed from from my first pic with.

At the least, if you guys could tell me the best way to test the pinout--I'm thinking pin 19. Also, what voltage readings should look like, especially if the EMB needs to use the signal.

Your going to use pin 17 from what I read. the IDL TPS pin is only an open closed circuit to tell the ecu that the car is at idle. If you're wanting the emb to see a variable voltage showing what position the throttle is in your going to use pin 17.

Connect pin 17 to the emanage blue "grey" wire for tps signal then do a test under configuration with the ignition turned on after complete.

Ok, thanks. Then I will go ahead and wire it in.

It's on and set.

After:

Do those numbers for the TPS setting look decent?

And here is my real time analysis test before throttle applied:

And while throttle applied (63%)

looks pretty good. Mine goes from 0v to 5v but different platforms have different values. As long as its showing throttle angle your good.

Hmmmm............maybe I should go try it again, maybe the floor mat is limiting the gas pedal travel from going all the way down.

you should get it to read from 0 - 100. i use the EMB to actually set my TPS on my mirage.
