My name is Joseph. Im new here. I have been an obsessed car/motorcycle guy for all my life, and the last 10 years Ive spent doing DIY tuning/turbo in some capacity or another. I do a lot of forum lurking, massive investments in time researching my obsession of the day. Every so often, I give back to the forums Ive been lurking on by doing some sort of technical write up, usually based on the freshest project Ive worked on.

My latest obsession has been getting the very most of my Emanage Blue. It is currently installed in my 1998 Subaru Impreza L wagon, EJ22 powered with a DIY turbo setup.

A link to my build (needs to be updated, later...):

Anyway, the purpose of this post is to show that the Emanage Blue IS CAPABLE of increasing the rev limit of some vehicles that use a oem fuel cut for RPM limiting.

The idea for this came from here:

http://www.zerotohundred.com/newforums/tech-engine-management-systems/141440-e-manage-blue-over-write-rev-limited-cut-2.html

As you can see, the explanation leaves a lot to be desired, so I experimented a little, and researched a lot, and came up with this...

Materials Required

4 X 1N4001 Rectifier Diodes (Can be purchased from The Source by circuit city, comes with 10 in an assorted pack of 25 for $4.99)

2 X Sub Injector harness wires (only need a few inches of wire, but need the pins to go into the emanage injection harness)

Solder, Shrinkwrap, electrical tape

A picture is worth a thousand words, and I cant type. See the attached diagram.

Tuning is pretty simple, another attachment for the Tune, basically you start adding fuel via the sub injection map right where the factory ECU cuts, as seen in your data logs or tachometer... I also retard 20 degrees of timing through the emanage to help with a smooth limit.

Any questions, Id be happy to help. Gotta hit the sack now though... Wife is pissed..

Welcome or should I say welcome to the forefront, in making your public appearance.:D

Pretty interesting, but is this an alternative to MAP Clamp function, or something different altogether? On my car clamping the MAP sensor signal prevents fuel cut. Just wondering what would be the conditions in which one would use this method to counter fuel cut.

Sorry I didnt elaborate further.. It was late, and my wife was nagging me to come to bed, lol..

The purpose of this Mod is to allow an increased rev limit, compared to stock, using the emanage blue and readily available diodes.

It does not function in anyway as a MAP/MAF clamp. Its purpose isnt to prevent a 'Boost cut'.

The way you would use this.... Okay, we will use my car for an example:

1998 Impreza L, EJ22E, stock longblock, AVO GT25 turbo, Greddy emanage Blue w/ignition & injection harnesses & GM 3 bar MAP sensor wired to boost port. Rev limit mod applied to sub injector wiring.

Stock Rev limit: ~6197 rpm. Performed by cutting signal to the injectors at that rpm. This is how the majority of OEMs limit their engines rpm.

I want to raise my rev limit another ~300 rpm, (insert reason here) to give me some overrev capability. (You better be sure your engine can handle the increased revs, or damage will occur).

First, complete the wiring mod as shown in the OP attachments. If already using the injection harness with additional injection map, you can do this mod a couple inches from the injection plug to emanage blue.

You log your Injector Duty Cycle (IDC) at or just before the limiter, at all MAF/MAP voltages.

You take these IDC's, and input them into the Emanage Blue's Sub injector map, at approx the same rpm the factory cuts signals to its injectors(ie; 6200 rpm). You carry on these values, possibly increasing them with RPM (having a wideband will help determine correct fueling) to the new rpm limit you want to achieve (ie; 6500 rpm). The next column in the sub injector map (ie; 6600 rpm) should be full of zeros, causing the engines new rev limit to be ~6500 rpm.

You can select the 'Main Sync' option on the sub injector map at this time. I also retard 20 degrees of timing from the ignition map at 6600 rpm, to give a smoother limit.

I hope this helps!

Aha! I see. I was thinking fuel cut due to boost. Cool.
