I'm trying to decide if the Blue is the piggy that I need ...

Background: 94 1.8 Miata, N/A with 10:1 pistons (9:1 is stock CR), headwork, intake and exhaust, longer duration intake cam, stock injectors.
I want to have the ability of modifying timing and A/F, and don't want to deal with all the variables of a standalone, at least not yet.

So I have a couple of questions:
- Can the EMB advance timing? All info. I found during my searches are forced induction related, with the EMB retarding timing.
- What exactly does (if it does anything) the EMB if I add fuel while the ECU is still in closed loop? My guess is the ECU will remove any fuel the EMB is adding, so an O2 clamp will be needed.

Thanks.

It can advance timing for NA or boosted.

As for closed loop, yes your ECU will fight it, but you can still get it to run rich.

I've heard of a member here that just unplugged his O2 and tuned everything.

Thanks man. It seems it will work for my needs, now I need to check Ebay prices ;) Since I would be using a boomslang harness and the support tool software is available here (already downloaded) I just need the unit and cable, right?

O2 unplugged: I never thought about that, but there must be some reason to prefer using an O2 clamp. Don't know what an ECU does when is not receiving the sensor signal. Maybe going into a very safe map?

Yep safe mode = overly rich. The benefits of running with O2 is you don't have to tune off-boost. O2 will keep things near stoich.

As far as EMB, you'll want the ignition and injector harnesses as well. If not boost then you don't need the GReddy boost map sensor.

Thanks again. Found out there is a boomslang PnP for my car son I won't need any harness, not even the main harness. Not cheap, BTW...
