Hey guys,
I'm spaniard, 39, living in Chile during the last 20 years. Found a link to this forum while reading miataturbo.net so I came here to learn about the EMB.
I have a black 94 Miata with some mods, all of them handling-related. Engine broke a long time ago and now my mechanic (a genius! really) is rebuilding it.
I choose the N/A path: we are doing exhintake cam ("real" cams will come later), adj. cam gears, headwork, 10:1 wisecos, header-midpipe-muffler, 9 lb flywheel... and and replacing almost every single little piece. I don't want to think about how much I'm spending on it :(. Plus shipping ! :D

Maybe the stock ECU could handle these mods, maybe not. Anyway, I know I'll need some sort of EM to take the best of it, so i looked at the good'ol EMB; while a megasquirt PnP should be the best choice (cheap and capable) I felt overhelmed when i read the manual and installed the software, so I'm still trying to decide which EM I'll get.

You'll see mee a lot around here if I finally get the EMB.

Welcome my friend! Regardless of which engine management option you go with I hope we'll see alot of you around here. A different flavor of tuners is just what this site needs to give it a good shot in the arm. :)

What influenced your decision to stay NA if you dont mind my asking?

Hi !
Well, ehm, I really don't know, haha.
I changed my mind many times during the last months. I even have 8.5:1 Wisecos installed right now in the block!! But adding a turbo/supercharger will turn my car illegal in Chile; they don't care if it passes the emissions test, even if they see an aftermarket filter you won't pass. Of course i can get a "you've passed" sticker by other means, but my plans are keeping the car forever (love it) and I'm not sure how longer i could keep doing that.
So i thought about adding a supercharger; some units have a stock look and it's very likely i wouldn't have problems but my car sees some trackdays in very hot weather so an intercooler is a must. And intercoolers don't look stock...
So, for now, it will stay N/A and "looking stock". However... 10:1 is not that much compression so I still can go FI later since my mods are supercharger-compatible.

Man right?

If I were a girl, able to talk about compression ratios, A/F, timing and cams I would be a PERFECT WOMAN !!! :D:D:D

Yeah, except that girl would cut any man's car parts budget in half--two cars to modify now. Still perfect?:p Jk!

Welcome again!
