Hey everyone,
I'm coming to you from Chicago. I have a 95 Miata M-Edition that i bought about a year ago. I've never done any tuning to any car before, so i'll probably need a lot of help considering i bought a turbo last week. Not a good idea, i'll probably die.
But before I install the turbo I bought an EMB. Finally got it wired up last night with the extra injector and ignition harnesses. Slight problem, i'm not completely sure but it think i may have cleared the settings on the stock ECU. When trying to get the EMB to talk to send info to my laptop it asked for a password, but wouldn't accept anything i typed in. So instead of sitting there all day trying to figure out a password, i hit 'clear map' and it let me through. I seriously think that was a bad choice. The map it sent was completely zeroed out?
When i start my car it knocks through all RPM's and idle's a bit high. First starting it up i noticed it was running a bit rich, but seemed to settle down.
Any sort of advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Willy

Not to worry, you can't clear the settings in your stock ecu its a ODB1 theres no way you can rewrite to that Mazda ecu its not that smart. I would double check all your settings i.e. "AFM choice" and jumpers then reload your software. Other than that I'am not sure, but there are alot of good guys on this site that can help you.

I'm going to guess that the AMF settings are the first three rotary switches, which i have set to 3AO. From what i've read that seems to be correct. Also i have the jumpers on the factory settings, which also seems right.
My main problem is that I don't really know what i'm doing. I'm trying to put a Garrett GT28RS under the hood, but before i do that i figured i would mess with the computer to try and get a feel for everything. I bought the e-manage blue, but all the manuals are in Japanese, and i cannot find a pdf, or anything, on how to tune it without blowing it up or bringing it to a shop. So if anyone could point me in a starting direction, that would be fantastic.

Just gonna throw a couple things out there. Not sure if this applies but since you guys know way more about your motor/setup, you should be able to recognize if its applicable.
Resistor mod said to be used on 99/00 models.

I would assume that it is the same, none of the switches have anything to do with the trans.

Transmission? I haven't seen anything where the EMB controls anything transmission related.
Think that is the general settings/mod when setting up the EMB on Miata's--it would seem.

Went through the whole resistor thing with my 97 M-Edition. Make sure you get an assortment.
