bad usb port ?

i've never heard of this, but i think it may have happened on my e manage. i have the serial cable and i use an rs232 to usb converter but i cant connect my e manage and my computer. i'm really confused as to why. Any insight is more than welcome.

Make sure you have good drivers for the converter. I bought one from Radio Shack awhile back that used a generic driver and it kept crashing my tuning software. I ended up using a good quality one from TigerDirect with it's own specific driver and no issues since. XP or Vista?

+1 for Turbineguys statement. Also, you may simply have the COM port selected wrong in the emanage. Are you receiving any kind of error message when this happens?

As with all things it helps to be as detailed as possible when posting an issue. when you connect the usb if you're using windows you should hear some sort of sound from the computer, that tells you its recognized the usb port. Does it do this?
