View Full Version : Blue Not Communicating

I've just installed my e-manage blue ready for turbo conversion, so I can learn a bit of mapping before hand.

I made a cable from a DKU-5 and it worked, but since then it has stopped communicating, I've now just ordered the serial cable from Giff-Tech.

Is it possible there's permanent damage to the EMB, or would it likely be a bad cable/COM port issue?

It seem to be your first post. why dont you just pop on over to the introduction page and introduce yourself. On the matter with the permanent damage, not sure. maybe someone can answer that for you. Did you make sure that you are connected to the right com port? With the new cable you will find out for sure.

Welcome to the site. Hopefully you ordered from this site so you got a discount on your cable. In answer to your question no, a crosswired cable would not supply enough voltage to damage the Emanage blue. It has a built in failsafe that can handle that much voltage. Now if you had crossed a power and ground on the harness you'd be screwed.

On the subject of the comm port issue. If it just stopped working all of the sudden and it used to two then either of these things happened.

Your computer assigned the current com port to another peripheral. On your menu cycle through your COMM PORTs until you see the Online message in the bottom right hand corner of the support tool.

Or

The connections in the cable you made have worn and come loose. Check those for cold solder joints (if you did that), or use a volt meter and test each end for connectivity.

Hope this helps ;)

Each connection tests fine, the DKU-5 Cable I had only had 3 cables, so had no power wire, just a gnd, tx and rx, so the most voltage I could supply was around 3.2v. I had read about virtual ports becoming re-assigned, or the e-manage just not liking USB communications. So hopefully it will be ok with this new cable :)

Thanks.
